Modeling and Simulation of Passenger Boarding and Alighting Behaviors in Subway Stations
Analysis of passenger boarding and alighting behaviors is one of the most exciting topics in passenger dynamics. This paper proposes a passenger boarding and alighting time prediction model, where both the influences of door width and passengers queuing behaviors are taken into account.Considering the differences of the distribution of passengers over the platform and the density of passengers inside the vehicle in peak and off-peak hours, the prediction model is established in piecewise form. The parameters of the model are calibrated according to the real data collected in three subway stations of Beijing. The model is also validated by Anylogic simulations of the counterpart of the real scenarios. The results show that the proposed model can effectively predict passenger boarding and alighting time in peak and off-peak hours. The average relative deviation of boarding time and alighting time between simulation results and field data are 0.0439 and 0.058, respectively. The variances of relative deviation are 0.0013 and 0.0020, respectively. Moreover, it is helpful for the improvements of passenger boarding and alighting efficiency, the optimization of train operation and the management of passenger flow in subway stations.
