Effect of turning parameters on surface integrity of GH4169 alloy
The surface integrity after machining of the GH4169 alloy would have an important influence on its subsequent service properties. The aim of this paper was to investigate the effects of cutting speed and feed rate used in the turning process on the surface integrity of GH4169 alloy. It was found that degree of plastic deformation near the machined surface was strongly influenced by the processing parameters. Moreover, the residual stress at the machined surface was tensile and it changed to be compressive at the depth of 5~10 μm.The plastic work near the machined surface was higher than 20%.The surface integrity was related to the mechanical force and temperature gradient near the machined surface.
