Creep Deformation and Rupture for Welded Joint of Mod.9Cr-1Mo Steel Using Miniature Specimen

  This paper presents the creep deformation and rupture behavior of Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel base and welded joint using miniature specimens.Uniaxial creep tests were performed using specimens with 1mm, 2mm and 3mm in diameter at 600℃ and 650℃, and creep properties of miniature specimens were compared with that of standard specimen with 6mm in diameter.Creep deformation and rupture of the miniature specimen with lmm in diameter were closely agreed with those of standard specimen for base material, but time to creep rupture decreased significantly with decreasing the diameter of welded joint specimen.The effect of specimen size on creep property was discussed in relation with stress state in heat affected zone calculated by finite element analysis.
