Study on the Sustainable Development of Engineering Training Center
This article emphasizes the sustainable development pattern of Engineering Training Center (ETC) in University.ETC is a newly sprouted thing, as one of the results of reform in higher engineering education, in China.It is usually set up to a large training base in university to alter the poor engineering practice condition for undergraduate students in school.Training in ETC is mainly focused on manufacturing section during a products life cycle.Students, in a highly similar industrial environment, can experience engineering processes and understand technical know-how by learning manufacturing skills;so that, students can on the one hand construct a fundamental concept of engineering with big E, on the other hand, lay the foundation of manufacturing knowledge subsequently.However, ETCs development and operation, faculty requirements, and teaching pattern differ from which in general colleges or departments.So, after a massive financial investment in infrastructure, how to keep development by connotative construction is becoming a hot issue in Focus.This article starts with clarifying ETCs meaning of sustainable development, and then analyzes the basic conditions of physical substance, human resource, institution system and culture which are necessary to realize sustainable development and why they are so basic.Last, cases are present as a good sample of the proper developing patter according to different situations of an individual ETC.
