Cultivating High-level Metalworking Teaching Team by Discipline Construction

  Excellent teacher team is the guarantee of high-quality teaching.But at present, the teacher teams engaged in teaching of manufacturing technology generally have outdated knowledge.Then, discipline construction is an efficient method to cultivate high-level teacher teams with updated knowledge.Vehicle engineering discipline is being developed in engineering training center in Harbin Institute of Technology, in which there are three cultivation platforms of the undergraduates, postgraduates and PhD graduates.The teachers expand knowledge and teaching field during construction of vehicle engineering discipline, and have conducted more than 20 curriculums for the undergraduates and postgraduates on the basis of manufacturing technology course and engineering training course.The doctoral program of the vehicle engineering discipline provides convenient condition for the teachers to continue learning and further training.At present, the knowledge level of teacher team greatly improved, and 70 percent of the teachers have doctorates.At the same time, construction of discipline provides the platform for scientific research.In the last three years, the teacher team received 3 projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation, 1 project supported by Postdoctoral Special Fund, more than 10 projects supported by Baoshan Iron & Steel Co.Scientific research funds added up to more than 6 million.More than 80 research papers were published, of which more than 40 were retrieved by SCI and EI.So construction of discipline provides more development opportunities for the teachers, and promotes engineering training center to transform simple teaching model into teaching-research combined model.
