The Interaction Practice of Engineering Training Education & the Competition
The National College Students Comprehensive Engineering Training Competition (the Competition) held in China is an excellent event to reveal the engineering training education and engineering abilities of college students.In the past 6 years, the Engineering Training Center of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) has seamlessly combined the Competition with the engineering training practice and has formed a complete mechanism.This mechanism realized the interaction of the Competition and the engineering training practice.Students have improved their understanding of the engineering projects.Their participation willingness has been activated and many excellent teams have emerged.Good works have been produced and good results have been achieved in the competitions in the past 6 years.By observing the interaction of the Competition and the engineering training, we have found that they can be ideally combined together and the result of the Competition and the engineering training both will be improved.To sum up the engineering training practice of these years, we conclude: The college engineering training should have a clear objective;the practice training should be based on a concrete engineering project;theoretical analysis should be introduced and the practice abilities will be improved during the training;final works should be evaluated through the competition.This could be an ideal mechanism of engineering training education.There are still some obstacles to carry out this mechanism.For examples: large amount of resources of both human and finance are greatly needed.It is time consuming too.In view of this, we combine the competition and the traditional education and have got good results.
