Demand Differentiation Research of Outpatients in Chinas Large General Hospitals Based on Health Seeking Behaviors
From the perspective of health-seeking behavior, this paper investigates outpatients in a tertiary hospital in Sichuan Province, identifies the factors influencing patients health seeking behavior by using nonparametric-test, and describes three dimensions from these factors to explore the differences between distinct health care demand of outpatients which is affected by many factors in todays hierarchical diagnosis and treatment policy (HDATP) environment by means of factor and cluster analysis.The study finds that the characteristics of medical treatment demand of outpatients in general hospital can be classified into three types: cost-oriented, cost-performance-oriented and efficacy-oriented.For the latter two types of outpatients, the impact of differentiation medicare rule is limited, so a variety of a highly targeted policy measures is needed to promote the outpatients rational triage in large hospitals.
