Analysis of Institutional Changes Effects on the Development of Competitive Sports in China
Based on the co-integration theory, using 1978-2011 annual time series data, from the perspective of institutional change, this paper analyses the effects of five factors from the political,economic and social system in three areas on Chinas competitive sports development by constructing a variable VAR model.The empirical results show that long-term equilibrium relationship exists between degree of decentralization, economic growth, industrial structure, government dependence, urbanization and competitive sports development, economic growth is the main cause of competitive sports development, competitive sports development isthe main cause of degree of decentralization, household consumption rate, economic growth have a larger positive effect on competitive sports development.
