Evaluation of Melt Features for Liquid Iron by Computer Aided Recognition of Thermal Analysis Cooling Curves

  The molten metal quality assessment method,basing on the identifying technique of the thermal analysis cooling curves and database technique,was adopted to evaluate the molten metal quality of the machine tool castings.The experimental results show thatthe differences of corresponding graphite morphology indexes and mechanical properties of the samples cast from the two corresponding melts right after spheroidization or inoculation treatments converge to zero when the comprehensive difference parameter Ω,which presents the difference between thefreezing zones oftwo cooling curves,approaches to zero.Based on a database established from a large amount of experimental results and judgment of the cast iron melt quality,the on-line prediction of composition,microstructure,elasticity modulus and other mechanical properties of cast iron melt was realized.
