A SDN for Multi-tenant Data Center Based on IPv6 Transition Method
The transition from IPv4 to IPv6 has been an inevitable trend,but data centers must support both in the near future.As Multi-tenant data center network calls for agility programmability and scalability,we dont recommend to build traditional dual-stack multi-tenant network because its too complicated to manage.Software Defined Network (SDN) separates control plane and data plane,and it brings an innovative idea for todays multi-tenant data center network.In this paper,we propose a novel SDN scheme which turns all traffic into IPv6 in data plane and provides IPv4 and IPv6 accessing for multi-tenant data centers.We introduce stateless translating actions V4V6/V6V4 to software switches to connect IPv4 and IPv6.Our scheme uses unified IPv6 address format to separate tenants in data center,and makes tenant networks more efficient and manageable.Our method offers unified and concise northbound interface in control plane for programming and management,as well as transition from IPv4 to IPv6.
