Modeling and Application of Discrete System for HBV Infection

Discrete events are more practical than continuous systems for describing biological dynamics. This study proposes a discrete model to describe hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection dynamics. The proposed discrete difference system is more reasonable than the previous differential equation models. This system has an infection free equilibrium point Q1 and an endemic equilibrium Q2.A basic virus reproductive number R0 independent on the number of total cells of an infected target organ is deduced.Using the linearized stability theorem shows that if R0 < 1,the virus free equilibrium point Q1 is locally stable.Based on the original experiment data of a chimpanzee, using MATLAB and C--nixed programming simulates the dynamic of acutely HBV infection. The simulation results are good in agreement with the experiment data.
