Mobility-Assisted Relocation for Multi-Objective Optimization in Mobile Sensor Networks
Coverage and lifetime are major issues in wireless sensor networks (WSN).Recent studies show that optimization of aforementioned issues can be achieved by further involving controlled mobility. As most proposals focus on exploiting full sensor mobility, research on relocating a relatively limited number of mobile sensors for multi-objective optimization is still missing. In this paper,we formulate sensor relocation as a multi-objective optimization problem. We consider a system model which is more practical than previous studies in problem formulation. We also propose a sensor relocation algorithm Controllable Mobility Scheme based on Genetic Algorithms (CMSGA).Finally,we apply the algorithm for simulations;the results demonstrate the benefit of utilizing limited sensor mobility in our approach, and they also suggest the effective improvements both in surveillance coverage and network lifetime.
