Official Media and the Chinese Legislatures Public Image:Change, Continuity and the Current Challenges

　　Media coverage on legislative proceeding enhances legislative transparency and openness,which makes it a crucial factor for legislatures to enhance its public image.Focusing on the case of the Chinese legislature, this research evaluates the role of the official media coverage of the National Peoples Congress (NPC) in constructing its public perception.The study reveals that all 1887 samples helped shaping the NPCs relatively negative and passive public image.It also highlights the fact that the rose of social media increased the urgency for the official media to make shift in its coverage style,or the NPCs public image would risk further damage.However, social media also entails a window of opportunity to enhance the NPCs public image by making, media coverage audience-friendly.
