The Effects of Glass Ceiling on Female Public Servants in Their Career Advancement in China
Any discrimination against women in their career advancement is prohibited by law in China.Despite this, the effects of Glass Ceiling still exist and female public servants promotion to higher rank is difficult. The effects are revealed via a questionnaire of some female public servants and statistical analysis of the gender distribution of the cadres in different level governments in Anhui Province.Through interviews and surveys, three factors of individual, organizational and institutional, and social, can be found that affect female public servants promotion. Therefore, in order to break through Glass Ceiling to protect their equal promotion rights, a three-prong approach should be adopted.
