Research on Government Crisis PR Strategies in Chinas Public Crisis Management--A Case Study of 7·23 Yong-Wen Line Extremely Serious Railway Traffic Accident and the Sinking of Eastern Star

  On July 23, 2011, high speed rail D301 from Beijingnan Railway Station and high speed rail D3115 from Hangzhou Railway Station had serious rear-end collision in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province.Late at night of June 1, 2015, the Eastern Star passenger liner which carried over 400people and started from Nanjing capsized in the Shishou segment of Hubei Province due to a tornado.Nowadays, China has entered a golden age of economic development, but it also has come into a period of highlighted conflicts and frequent crises in which the rate of public crisis event is increasingly high.After several years of development, the governments selection of PR strategies to deal with public crises is constantly changing.This thesis is to probe the appropriate measures and PR strategies that the government should choose in the crisis in order to appease the masses, effectively safeguard stability, and acquire popular support, using comparative analysis between the PR strategies adopted by the government in the above two crises.
