Fiber Reinforced Hollow Silica Nanospheres for Thermal Insulation Applications
This study proposes the assembly of robust nano insulation materials (NIM) based on hollow silica nanospheres (HNSN).A special focus is given on fiber reinforced HSNS composites, which can be achieved by mixing the fiber reinforcements with core-shell typed polystyrene-silica nanospheres followed by an annealing treatment to remove the organics. The as-prepared composites show potential as high performance thermal insulation materials,e.g.as core materials for vacuum insulation panels.
