Application of Hyperbranched Polyester(HBPET) in Dyeing of Recycled PET Fabric
In this research hyperbranched polyester (HBPET) was synthesized and extruded with recycled poly (ethylene terephthalate) (RPET) chips obtained from used water bottles,with ratio of 3 wt% and 5wt% of HBPET.Fabrics were produced from pure recycled PET(RPET-0) and (RPET-3 and RPET-5) and virgin PET (VPET).The effects of addition of HBPET on the properties of produced fabrics such as, dyeability, abrasion resistant, moisture absorbance and color fastness were investigated.It was found that the produced socks from(RPET-3 and RPET-5) blends have good abrasion resistant and very good dyeability proprieties and good washing fastness compared with (PET-0) and VPET.However,(RPET-3 and RPET-5) have high moisture absorbance and good dyeing properties, due to the present of polar groups and aromatic rings provided by the HBPET as confirmed by exhaustion test.These results will confirm the high absorbance of perspiration and it will be more comfort when used in apparel.However, all the results confirmed that (RPET-3 and RPET-5) blends fabric can be applied for textile applications especially in garment application.
