O2/He Plasma Modification of CNT Film Used for Interficial Icial Improvement of ITS Nanocomposites with Epoxy
The surface modification of a thin flexible CNT film by O2/He plasma was carried out in this study. The effect of plasma treatment with different time on the surface of CNT film was analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), showing a quick grafting of polar functional groups into CNT film surface.Wettability measurement was determined by water contact angle test, resulting in improved hydrophilicity on CNT film. For the nanocomposites made with epoxy, the functionalized samples exhibit a maximum 25.5%increase in interlaminar strength, indicating improved adhesion between CNT film and epoxy,as the grafted polar groups have a strong chemical interaction with epoxy and the rough surface ensures more epoxy resin permeated into the high density CNT film.
