Preparation and Testing of PANI/CNT Conductive Composites Yarn
In this study, an easy and cost-effective approach was developed to deposit polyaniline (PANI) on a multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) yarn by chemical polymerization. The oxidative polymerization process was firstly performed in the monomer acid solution, and then infiltrated into ammonium persulfate (APS) in acid solution with different oxidative polymerization time (2 h, 4 h, 6 h and 8 h).Morphology information and functional group of PANI-CNT nanocomposite yarns were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).Compared with untreated one, after the 4 h treatment, the nanocomposite yarn had a tensile strength of 226MPa and an electrical conductivity of 1276S/cm, increased by 135% and 115%,respectively.This study proposed a novel and effective way to fabricate PANI/CNT nanocomposite yarns with enhanced mechanical and electrical properties.
