Weaving Hope--Fair Trade Certified Shibori Designed Carpets

　　This paper discusses the mission and programs of a Fair Trade organization called the Goodweave Foundation: an American NGO (non-governmental organization) whose mission it is to stop child labor in the carpet industry using a market based approach.The presentation will also explain the process of how designers use a carpet industry computer program called Galaincha to transform original designs into carpet patterns that can be sent,via email,to weavers around the world.The presenters own shibori based collection will be used to illustrate the process.Many images will accompany the presentation.
