Wedge Structured Rotating Disk Photocatalytic Reactor and Its Application in Industrial Wastewater Treatment

  A wedge structured rotating disk photocatalytic (PC) reactor was used for post-treatment of actual textile and printing-ink wastewaters.Compared with a conventional planar disk,the wedge structured disk had larger surface area and exhibited better light utilization efficiency.The COD in wastewaters could meet the discharge or reuse standard in a few hours.Due to high conductivity of textile wastewater,voltage was applied to form photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) process to help separate photo generated electrons and holes,improving COD removal efficiency.While for printing-ink wastewater,H2O2 instead of voltage was added during the PC treatment due to the low conductivity.Better performance was also obtained due to the OH generated by H2O2 irradiated with UV light and the effectively capture of photo generated electrons by H2O2.Experiments results suggested that wedge structured rotating disk photocatalysis process was stable,efficient and worth further scale-up investigation.
