Secondary organic aerosol formation from gasoline vehicle emissions in a smog chamber
1.Introduction Vehicle emissions are blamed as a major cause of haze in many Chinese cities according to source apportionment results.Light duty gasoline vehicle has been a major concern in this field due to its large market share with the surprisingly 20% per year increasing rate and relatively high emission of VOCs and NOx.However, much attention has been paid to primary emission for gasoline cars with little information of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formation from vehicle exhausts in China. In this study,SOA formation of gasoline exhaust emission from in-use cars with different engine (GDI/PFI)and fuels according to different national standards are investigated in a smog chamber setup, for better understanding the chemical composition of vehicle exhausts and evaluating the importance of vehicle emission on air pollution.
