An off-on-off fiber-optical evanescent-wave biosensor for Hg2+ detection over a broad concentration range
Hg2+ can cause serious health effects in people after being ingested through the food chain.Therefore,it is important to monitor the concentration of Hg2+.To allow fast detection of Hg2+,different sensors based on small fluorescent organic molecules,proteins,oligonucleotides,genetically engineered cells,conjugated polymers,membranes,electrodes,or nanomaterials have been reported.Among all these methods,oligonucleotides showed some advantages due to their nature of easy production,stable storage and flexible structure etc.
