Droplet Digital PCR assays for the Detection of Edwardsiella tarda isolated from fish and pond water

1.Introduction Edwardsiella tarda is a causative agent of edwardsiellosis in freshwater and marine fish.This organism is widely distributed in aquatic environments and has a wide host range,causing diseases in a variety of vertebrates.This kind of bacteria can cause edwardsiellosis disease with typical symptom of septicaemia is fish,and gastroenteritis and extra-intestinal infections such as myonecrosis,peritonitis with sepsis,bacteremia and septic arthritis in human.E.tarda has been demonstrated to have extensive genetic and phenotypic diversity.Genetic differential analysis is a useful tool for distinguishing species so that pathogenic bacteria can be identified by screening their virulence genes.Many genetic determinants involved in E.tarda pathogenesis have been explored.
