Anode modification with peptide nanotubes encapsulating riboflavin enhanced power generation in microbial fuel cells
1.Introduction Peptide nanotubes (PNTs),due to their unique properties such as excellent electrical conductivity and biocompatibility, have become an ideal candidate for stabilizing labile units in biosensors and bionanodevices.Park et al.(2012) used bio-inspired PNTs as an encapsulation template to immobilize horseradish peroxidase and glucose oxidase onto electrode to establish a glucose biosensor. In this study,PNTs were used to immobilize a redox mediator riboflavin (RF)onto the carbon cloth anode (RF/PNT/CC) and the performance of microbial fuel cells (MFCs) with the RF/PNT anode were investigated.
