Effect of pretreatment lowering COD/N ratio on nitritation/anammox treating urine

Introduction A nitritation/anammox process was initiated to remove ammonium from source-separated urine in a sequence batch reactor (SBR).However, high content of organic matter might bring negative effects during its long-term operation. To avoid this,a pretreatment was developed to remove part of influent COD and its effect on the SBR performance was investigated.
