Ferroferric oxide accelerates methane production for microorganisms acclimated with protein-based substrate
1 Introduction Anaerobic treatment is widely used for treatment ofwastewater with high concentrations of organic carbon. Its contribution to both pollution control and energy recovery makcs it as one of sustainable technologies for wastewater management.Interspecies electron transfer via H2 formate plays a key rolc in mcthanc production by methanogens.Recently.another process, direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET).has been demonstrated and the use of conductive material is believ cd to facilitate DIET for syntrophic CH4 production. Therefore,it is necessary to examine the effect of condvctivc material on the performance of anaerobic digestion.
