The role of UV photolysis intermediates for accelerating sulfadiazine biodegradation
Sulfadiazine (SD),one of broad-spectrum antibiotics, has an obvious inhibition to microorganism, which restrict biological methods to be effectively utilized for biodegradation of wastewater containing SD.Coupling physical-chemical and biodegradation processes is a good strategy to gain the benefits of both approaches, which can accelerate SD degradation rate.In addition, photolysis of SD yields a range of organic products, which would be important agents to accelerate SD biodegradation rate, but it still gives no convincing key evidences. In this work,we investigated role of UV photolysis for accelerating SD biodegradation, and explored the mechanism concemed.
