Oxidation of Arsanilic acid with Potassium Permanganate: Kinetics,Thermodynamics and Reaction pathways
Introduction Arsanilic acid (4-amino phenyl arsenic acid,ASA),an aromatic organoarsenical, has been widely used as feed additive in animal husbandry to control coccidial intestinal parasites and improve feed efficiency. It has reported that most of the added ASA was excreted unchanged into manure and wastewater, which further entered into environment with land application of manure and/or discharging wastewaters.ASA was slowly converted into inorganic arsenics through biogeochemical processes in the environment, causing the contamination of arsenic. Therefore, the removal of residual ASA in the wastewater is very necessary before it is discharged into receiving water or reused as neutral water.
