Stability of OBS fluorocarbon surfactant under typical conditions of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs)
1.Introduction Fluorocarbon surfactants (FSs) are essential for many commercial and military applications (e.g.hard chrome plating,fire-fighting foam). However, some FSs such as perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS) have been identified as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and listed in the Stockholm Convention for global ban.Its important to evaluate the PBT profiles of FSs,especially for those potential alternatives to PFOS.Due to the fact that most poly-and per-fluorinated surfactants are resistant to both biotic and abiotic degradation, recently the stability under typical conditions of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) was adopted for the persistence evaluation of the FSs.
