Effects of indigenous microorganism dissimilatory iron reduction coupled to nitrobenzene degradation on iron speciation in Aquifer media
1.Introduction Nitrobenzene (NB) is one kind of highly toxic compounds and is widely used for the production of insecticides, dyes, feed stock, aniline, and other applications.NB has been found as a common groundwater contaminant, and is listed as a priority pollutant by the US EPA for it is difficult to biodegrade and is harmful to natural environment and human being health.Stimulating indigenous microorganism dissimilatory iron reduction is an effective remediation technology for contaminated groundwater and soil. The addition of emulsified vegetable oil (EVO) can enhance in situ anaerobic bioremediation.EVO provides long-lasting carbon source and electron donor for bioremediation after one-time injection.
