Study on Water-Soluble Calcium Chloride Sand Core
Water soluble cores (WSCs) prepared with sand and inorganic salt solution have several advantages in manufacturing complex metal components. However, it is just suit for inorganic salt with high solubility, such as potassium carbonate. In order to enlarge the variety of inorganic salt and obtain a new type of water soluble core, a water-soluble calcium chloride sand core (WCSC) was prepared by applying the hot-temping method. The forming process of the core was optimized; and the properties of the core were investigated along with the bonding mechanism.Experimental results show that the high tensile strength, low gas evolution and excellent collapsibility makes the WCSC suitable for manufacturing casting cores applied in low melting point metal and its alloy.
