Combination of Electrolysis and Microalgae Cultivation to Treat Effluent from Anaerobic Digestion of Poultry Manure
For further usage of poultry manure anaerobic digestion effluent (PMADE), it is a wise chose to make PMADE a fertilizer. However, wastewater containing high ammonia nitrogen(NH3-N) is generated during the manufacturing process of liquid fertilizer. In this study, the wastewater was pretreated by electrolysis to degrade NH3-N concentration to a low contain, and then used for cultivation of two types of microalgae, S.platensis and C.pyrenoidosa.The NH3-N, total organic carbon (TOC) and inorganic carbon (IC) were removed by electrolysis greatly. The removal ratio increased with time. The addition of sodium chloride (NaC1) had an effect on carbon and nitrogen removal after 2 h electrolysis. Here, wastewater treated by electrolysis was used to cultivate C pyrenoidosa and S.platensis with the NH3-N concentration of 500 mg/L and100 mg/L respectively. The growth rate of C.pyrenoidosa in electrolysis treatment wastewater was 0.019g/d higher than that of C.pyrenoidosa in BG-11.S.platensis was suitable to grow in the wastewater pretreated by electrolysis with NaCl dosage. The cost of electrolysis treatment was below 0.25 Yuan/L wastewater.
