Development of Wireless Analgesia Monitoring System

Objective: To develop a wireless analgesia monitoring system (WAMS) based on Internet of Things suitable for remotely monitoring the postoperative analgesia of the patients in the ward from the operating room.Methods: With comprehensive utilization technology of Internet of Things,the wireless analgesia pump launches the signals to the basic station of WAMS,then the monitoring computer can display the operating information and the alarming information from the wireless analgesia pump.In the end,all information can be printed into the recording sheet of postoperative follow-up and patient-controlled analgesia (PCA).The technique can make the medical staff efficiently execute the postoperative follow-up and manage the patients of postoperative analgesia in informationization and standardization.Also the operation and infusion information of the analgesia pump can be remotely monitored.With the convenience,the medical staff can centrally and timely monitor and manage the wireless analgesia pump.Results: The wireless network used in medical equipment management and monitoring,achieves the real-time connection with clinical patient analgesia and analgesic doctor central monitoring station,establishes timely and effective medical alarm monitoring and traceability data recording mechanism,compliances with medical quality control requirements,optimizes the workflow of patient analgesia.Conclusion: The system can display some information in time including basic situation of patient,operative name,analgesic formula,infusion method and infusion volume etc.It also has central monitoring station alarming function (silent bedside infusion device alarm) for PCA deficiency as well as infusion tube blocking and pain evaluation function.
