Process Information Management of Medical Equipment and Specification of Operation Message and Data Format
The key for a hospital to maintain high standard medical treatment,medical safety as well as medical service is the managing capability of its medical information.However,the lack of effective integration of hospital information has become a serious issue recently,i.e.the islanding effect of individual source of hospital information is becoming more and more obvious.Furthermore,many medical devices in use are not capable of gathering accurate data dynamically.The current communication solution for medical devices from different manufactures and the hospital information system is not sound.And currently there is no widely accepted specification of such medical information gathered during the patients treatment.In this article,we mainly discuss the solution to standardize the patient monitoring data,device operating data,device alarm message and device error message so that medical devices can communicate smoothly with the hospital information system.We hence define the above mentioned data and messages as the medical devices data system (MDDS).Accurately MDDS is the core of our solution and the collected MDDS can be further used to facilitate the clinical pathway management,and to give doctors evidence for issuing medical advice and evaluating the treatment efficacy.We make a thorough study of the following several aspects: ① Items of MDDS(Adopting a Hamilton Ventilator as an example); ② A reliable communication solution between medical devices and HIS; ③ Specification of MDDS.
