Objective: To investigate and assess the present situation about the overall performance quality of CT scanners from Second Level 2nd Class hospitals and private hospitals in Shanghai,and to promote the applying quality level of CT scanners.Methods: According to the requirement of performance indicators,test methods and evaluation methods released by Specification for Quality Assurance Test for Computed Tomography X-ray Scanners (GB 17589-2011),high-contrast resolution,low contrast detectability,mean CT number of water,noise and uniformity were measured with a Catphan(R) 500 CT Phantom made by American Phantom Laboratory.A total of 62 CT scanners from 59 hospitals were tested.A statistical analysis on test results was made.Results: The mean value of high-contrast resolution under conventional algorithm was 6.8 lp/cm,low contrast detectability was 2.4,CT number of water was 3.0 HU,noise was 0.43% and uniformity was 2.3 HU.In quality control tests,20 of 62 CT scanners were qualified.Conclusion: The quality control test of CT scanners can effectively guarantee the optimal system performance and maintain good image quality.On the basis of test results,the overall applying quality of CT scanners from the Second Level 2nd Class hospitals in Shanghai is still lower than the previous average level in Shanghai.Equipment aging and lack of preventive maintenance were main reasons for performance degradation of CT scanners.
