Coalface stability of large mining height panel in steeply dipping coal seam
Coalface stability of high cutting face in steeply dipping coal seam will directly affect the face safety and efficient production.Based on the plasticity area theory, D-P-Y criteria and limit equilibrium theory, the equations for computing the stress and width of plastic zones under the condition of high cutting height in steeply dipping coal seams were obtained., Analysis shows that the false dip angle and mining height are the main factors affecting the stability of coalface.Comparison of results between numerical simulation and underground monitoring indicates that when the mining height is larger, the coalface is less stale and the false dip angle leads to the stress and displacement in coalface being distributed in lower>middle>upper area type distribution. The smaller is the area the less stable is the coalface.
