Basic mechanic of crack propagation in floor aquitard
In order to understandthe mechanism of development of fracture channels in water inrush from floor rock, laboratory tests using the MTS testing machine were performed on rock specimens containing a single crack under uniaxial and triaxial compression.The effect of confining pressure on crack propagation was analyzed, and the mechanical model of crack propagation was established based on the theory of fracture mechanics.Compressive strength and confining pressure of fine sandstone specimens exhibited linear regression of σc =2.69σ3 +61.9 with R2 =0.97.Fracture mode was subjected to confining pressure effect.The fracture mode was wing crack and anti-wing crack pattern, anti-wing crack shear fracture pattern, anti-wing crack and secondary coplanar crack pattern when the confining pressures were 0, 5, and 10MPa, respectively.
