Micromechanical damage behavior of microcracked salt rock subjected to triaxial stresses
Based on the analysis of the deformation and growth of a representative dliptical microcrack with arbitrary orientation and geometrical size embedded in rock material, the additional compliance induced by an opening/closed elliptical microcrack is derived.Introducing an appropriate probability density function, a three dimensional micromechanics model for rocks is formulated. The validity of the proposed micromechanics model is verified by the satisfactory agreement between theoretical and experimental results of sand rock under triaxial compressions. The results show the damage effect of elliptical microcracks does not depend on the distribution funetion of microcrack geometric size, and the additional compliance increases with elliptical ratio.
