Measurements of roof strata movement for the fully mechanized top coal caving longwall mining of extra-thick coal seam using microseismic technique

  For the fully mechanized top coal caving longwall mining of extra-thick coal seam in complicated geological conditions, the high-precision microseismic monitoring technique combined with the conventional mine pressure monitoring method was employed to measure and analyze the overburden strata movement.The overburden strata movement characteristics, including the abutment pressure distribution, the front and side abutment pressure influence zones, and the active movement zones of the overlying roof strata for the multiple-partings thick coal seam mining condition in Tashan coal mine, have been obtained.Meanwhile, underground observations also indicate that the overburden movement characteristics for the extra-thick seam fully mechanized top coal caving longwall Mining can be monitored accurately by the microseismic technique.Consequently the method developed in this research can serve as a scientific guidance for detection of geological structural anomalies in the panel, the movement of surrounding rock strata and changes in stress.
