Evaluation of mine environmental quality based on grey clustering analysis

In grey clustering analysis (GCA), the environmental quality of Shanxi Provinces coal mining areas was taken as a grey system and was evaluated by GCA.In order to evaluate quantitatively the environmental quality of mining areas, a GCA model had been established based on the environmental quality monitoring data of 12monitoring stations in 2012 and 11 main pollutants as assessment indicators according to national environmental quality standards. As the raw data had different values and units, the method of average normalization was adopted before applying them in order to eliminate the impact of dimensions. The triangular whitenization weight functions were constructed to calculate grey membership of measured values. The degree of different contaminative factors was obtained by threshold inverse method. The grey clustering evaluation was performed for the sampled data.In addition, visual technique in ArcGIS was applied to display the overall mine environmental quality status. The research result was indicated that the above method was rational and effective.Furthermore, it will not only provide a new method of environmental assessment for mining areas but also be applied to environmental assessment for other mining areas.
