Influence of Current Reverse on Protection for Series Compensated Line
The impacts of current reverse caused by the faults of line with series compensation (LSC) on the widely-used current differential protections are analyzed. The theoretical analysis and simulative results show that, the zero-sequence differential protection for the high-resistance grounding faults may decrease its sensitivity and even refuse to act during the current reverse, aiming at which, an improved algorithm of zero-sequence differential protection is proposed. It adjusts adaptively to the parameters of line and compensating capacitor to effectively solve the problem of sensitivity reduction. The effectiveness and reliability of the proposed algorithm are verified by the RTDS simulations and practical engineering applications.
