Enhancement on Protection Application and Automation in Distribution System
Distribution network is closely related to the customers, because supply reliability and availability would directly affect daily life of the public.Population in Hong Kong keeps growing over the years, demand of electricity supply increases accordingly.Intelligent protection device, equipped with user-programmable logic and IEC 61850 features, would play the major role for the continuous development and modernization in electricity supply system.This paper describes the enhancement on protection application and automation in distribution system.Upgrade of automatic re-close facilities, replacement of leakage-to-frame bus-bar protection, and consideration on transient overload condition caused by voltage dip in the aspects of time-current grading of over-current relays are discussed in this paper.
