Field Trial of Process Bus Based Line Protection Using NCIT and CIT at Each Respective End
We have developed the process bus system, standardized in IEC 61850-9-2, a new technology for substation secondary systems. The field trial of the developed system has been implemented in substations of a power utility and has been currently under operation. The system consists of non-conventional instrument transformers (NCIT), i.e., ECT (Electronic Current Transformer, primary converter is Rogowski CT: RCT) and EVT (Electronic Voltage Transformer, the primary converter is Potential Divider:PD) including A/D converter as the secondary converter installed in GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear), MU (Merging Unit) and IED(Intelligent Electronic Device).Usages of NCIT will result in reduction of GIS size in comparison with conventional GIS using CIT (Conventional Instrument Transformers, CT and VT).As IEDs, line current differential relay and DFR (Digital Fault Recorder) are developed and installed in substations. This paper represents aspects of this pilot project, i.e.field trial and contributes to achieve the interoperability found through the pilot project.
