New Frequency Estimation Solution with High Stability for Load Shedding

  Under frequency load shedding is widely applied in the electric power system.However the mal-operation of load shedding is reported more than once.Normally it is caused by the erroneous frequency measurement under the voltage disturbance after the power system faults or the CB operation.First, this paper analyzes the performance of the conventional frequency estimation solution.Second, this paper proposes to adjust the sampling frequency over longer Hamming Window to get better frequency response characteristic which can avoid severe fluctuation of the sampling frequency under voltage disturbance.This new frequency estimation solution provides the adaptive sampling frequency and the frequency measurement respectively with different control factors.Finally, this new frequency estimation solution is verified with different test scenarios.The simulation results show the stability of load shedding function based on the new frequency estimation solution is well improved.
