An Integrated Monitor and Control System Proposed for PV Generation Grid-connection

  The photovoltaic (PV) power is a reliable, clean and environmental friendly energy with no need of fuel and no emission, so PV power generation is a promising renewable energy with the expectation of resolving the expanding energy demand and environmental problems.With the decrease of the PV system prices and government incentives, global PV installation is booming in recent years.Such as, the registered grid-connection PV power installation capacity in China had amounted to 15.89GW till the end of 2013 according to 2014 report released by CEC (China Electricity Council).In the paper, an integrated reliable, novel and effective monitor and control system for large-scale photovoltaic grid-connection and its technical realization are proposed.The proposed comprehensive system includes the monitor and control of the PV grid-connection, the advanced functions of AGC/AVC system and solar power generation forecast system.Besides, a very important monitor and protection IED (Intelligent Electronic Device) developed for each PV generation unit and its functions are introduced.The proposed system can help to optimize the operation state of the PV station and improve the reliability, efficiency and safety of the solar power generation system.The proposed Grid-Connection monitor and control system has been applied successfully in many MW-class PV power parks worldwide so far, such as Huanghe Hydropower Golmud solar park whose total capacity is more than 300MW.Finally, some technical cases are given for further explanation.
