Perspectives for the integration of distinct data sources used in automation systems
An overview of the Brazilian power system substation automation systems is presented, particularly concerning non operational data, like fault recordings and synchrophasors. Also some of the final applications using this data are presented.A new architecture is shown featuring simple and low-cost implementations. The use of SAGE, a Scada/EMS system largely adopted in Brazil as a gateway to these non-operational data in combination with existing protection and fault recording devices makes the implementation and maintenance of this type of infrastructure more approachable than with traditional architectures, Finally the prospects for the constitution of a national Phasor Measurement System are addressed from the point of view of the proposed solution.
