Study of Reactive Shunt Compensation Coordination with SVC and CSR at750kV Substation

  To support and solve Qinghais enormous power shortage, Shazhou substation is one of the key 750kV substations for Xinjiangs electricity export.However huge power shortage and high levels of reactive power requirement due to renewable energy transfer leads to installation of reactive power compensation at Shazhou substation.At Shazhou substation, one set of±360 Mvar of static var compensator (SVC) rated at 66kV on the secondary side of power transformer with another one set of 390Mvar of controllable switching reactor (CSR) for each transmission line was installed to compensate the demanded reactive power.Moreover many fundamental functions of SVC and CSR are used at this station to put forward and to illustrate its control implementations.Operation illustrated performance are shown that SVC and CSR are playing great role on keeping voltage stable and guaranteeing enough power transmission capability.
