The Study about Optimal Placement of VSC BTB HVDC Considering Fault Current Reduction and Reactive Power Compensation

  As the power system has become complicated,specific areas in which power system demand is concentrated have raised system reliability problems such as transient stability,overload and fault current.Recently, the study about solutions for these problems has been conducted all over the world.In this paper, we discuss the method to enhance reliability of complex system using Voltage Sourced Converter Back-to-Back High Voltage Direct Current (VSC BTB HVDC).By replacing conventional AC line to DC line utilizing HVDC, loopod system is to be more simplified, and then the effect of fault current reduction is to be created.In addition, since voltage sourced converter is able to compensate the reactive power, VSC BTB HVDC will contribute to voltage stabilization as well as fault current reduction.Here, we introduce the method about optimal placement of HVDC, and the simulation is proceeded on 2027KEPCO system.
