Research on Practical Test Technology of Protection Device Based on RTDS-GTNET
Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) is widely used for power system simulation and secondary system test.The development of RTDS-GTNET card has made it possible to test the intelligent electronic devices based on IEC 61850 dynamically in real time.The paper briefly introduces the basic structure of RTDS, then describes in detail the function and usage of GTNET cards with comparing new GTNET modules to old version in improvements.Besides, it is discussed how to match parameters both inside RTDS and connected to external devices for communication, Finally this paper provides a solution to apply RTDS-GTNET to test a newly developed substation-area backup protection relay.
